Emergency medicine physician here. I want to provide some clinical context for anyone who's worried: Go to the ER if you have: - Fever over 100.4F after a recent injection - Spreading redness/warmth at the injection site (especially red streaks) - Severe pain that's getting worse, not better - Chills, rigors, or shaking - Rapid heart rate, low blood pressure, confusion See your doctor (but not necessarily ER) if you have: - Mild injection site redness that resolved on its own - Minor discomfort that's improving - General concern but no active symptoms You're likely okay if: - You used the product weeks ago with no symptoms - Your injection sites healed normally - You have no fever or systemic symptoms The incubation period for Serratia bacteremia is typically 24-72 hours. If you injected more than a week ago with no symptoms, acute infection is very unlikely. But immune-compromised individuals should consult their doctor regardless.

Attorney here. This is beyond consumer fraud — this is a criminal matter. Selling contaminated injectable products that cause hospitalization is potentially: - Criminal negligence - Assault (in some jurisdictions) - Violation of federal food & drug safety laws - Multiple state-level violations — I strongly recommend your husband: 1. Contact a personal injury attorney (many work on contingency, no upfront cost) 2. Preserve ALL evidence (vials, packaging, order confirmations, payment records, medical records) 3. File a police report in your local jurisdiction 4. File with FDA MedWatch 5. Do NOT contact SynthPure or discuss the case publicly beyond warning others (your attorney will advise) If SynthPure can be identified and located, your husband may have a strong civil case for medical expenses, lost wages, and damages.

Thank you all for the support and information. Update on my husband: fever is down to 99.8, blood cultures from today show reduced bacterial load. The antibiotics are working. Doctor says he'll likely be discharged in 2-3 days but will need 2 more weeks of oral antibiotics at home. Hospital lab results on the vial came back: confirmed Serratia marcescens contamination. The hospital has filed a report with the FDA on our behalf. We've retained an attorney per's advice. All evidence is being preserved. I want to make this clear to everyone: my husband almost died from injecting a contaminated product. He's a healthy 38-year-old man. He was just trying to lose weight. No one should have to go through this. Please, please be careful where you source your products. Test everything. Don't take shortcuts with your health. No amount of savings is worth what we've been through this week.

We are grateful for the update and relieved to hear your husband is improving. This incident has prompted us to add a new permanent rule to the community: New Rule: All vendor recommendations must include evidence of sterility testing. Potency/purity testing (HPLC) is necessary but not sufficient. Sterility testing and endotoxin testing are equally important for injectable products. We will be updating the vetted vendor requirements to include: - Third-party sterility testing (USP <71>) - Endotoxin testing (USP <85>) - HPLC potency/purity testing - All three must be from accredited labs This is a turning point for our community's safety standards. Thank you to everyone who shared information in this thread. You may have prevented additional hospitalizations.
