Emergency medicine physician here. I want to provide some clinical context for anyone who's worried:
Go to the ER if you have:
- Fever over 100.4F after a recent injection
- Spreading redness/warmth at the injection site (especially red streaks)
- Severe pain that's getting worse, not better
- Chills, rigors, or shaking
- Rapid heart rate, low blood pressure, confusion
See your doctor (but not necessarily ER) if you have:
- Mild injection site redness that resolved on its own
- Minor discomfort that's improving
- General concern but no active symptoms
You're likely okay if:
- You used the product weeks ago with no symptoms
- Your injection sites healed normally
- You have no fever or systemic symptoms
The incubation period for Serratia bacteremia is typically 24-72 hours. If you injected more than a week ago with no symptoms, acute infection is very unlikely. But immune-compromised individuals should consult their doctor regardless.
