Jess, those food experiments are incredible. The pizza data is wild — from 212 peak to 156, and time above 140 dropped from over 2 hours to 32 minutes. For the same exact food. This is why CGM data is so much more informative than a single fasting glucose or A1c. You can see the REAL-TIME effect of the medication on glucose dynamics. It's like having a dashboard for your metabolism.

This is all really compelling but honest question — is a CGM worth it if I'm not diabetic? I'm on Wegovy for obesity, A1c 5.6%, no diabetes diagnosis. My insurance won't cover CGM without a diabetes diagnosis. The Libre 3 is like $75/month out of pocket. Is it worth the cost just for data/optimization?

honest answer: for most non-diabetic patients, a CGM for 1-2 months provides excellent behavioral insight and then diminishing returns after that. My recommendation: Worth it for 4-8 weeks if: - You want to understand your individual glucose responses to foods - You're trying to optimize meal composition and timing - You want to see how exercise affects your glucose - You find data motivating for behavior change Not necessary long-term if: - Your A1c is stable and normal - You're not on insulin or sulfonylureas (no hypo risk) - You don't find the data actionable A reasonable approach: buy 2 months of Libre 3, do your food experiments, learn your patterns, then stop. The knowledge stays with you even without the sensor. You'll know which meals spike you and which don't. One caveat: if you have a strong family history of T2D, a 2-week CGM can reveal post-meal patterns that A1c and fasting glucose miss. Some "normal" A1c patients spike to 180+ after high-carb meals — that's not truly normal glucose regulation.

I agree with the doc. I wore mine for 3 months, learned my patterns, and now I only put one on for 2 weeks every few months to spot-check. The initial period was invaluable — I learned that bananas spike me way more than berries, that walking for 10 minutes after meals cuts my peak by 20-30 points, and that sleep deprivation raises my fasting glucose by 10-15 mg/dL. That's knowledge I now use every day even without the sensor on. Worth every penny of those initial months.

Great advice from everyone. And also, if you do try it, check out the Levels Health or Nutrisense programs — they provide CGM sensors plus an app that scores your meals and gives insights. More expensive than standalone Libre but the analytics are really helpful for non-diabetic users who want to optimize rather than manage. This whole thread reminds me why I love this community. Real data, real experiences, no BS. Keep the CGM traces coming everyone! 📊
