This made me tear up. The fact that you talked to each other — really talked — is everything. So many couples let the fear fester in silence until it becomes resentment.

You're going to be okay. Both of you. The couples who survive transformation are the ones who choose to transform together.

Rooting for you so hard.

Married 22 years. My wife lost 65 lbs on tirzepatide. Here's what I wish someone had told me as the partner:

  • It's okay to feel insecure. Your partner is changing rapidly and it's disorienting.
  • It's NOT okay to make your insecurity their problem or try to slow their progress.
  • Your partner didn't change to hurt you. They changed to save their own life.
  • The best thing you can do is get curious, not defensive. Ask questions. Show interest. Be their teammate.
  • Get your own therapy too. You have your own stuff to process.

My wife and I are closer now than we've been in years. But it took work. Deliberate, uncomfortable, honest work. Worth every second.

Beautiful, hard, important thread. Pinning this.

If you're navigating relationship changes during weight loss, you are not alone. This is one of the most common and least discussed aspects of the GLP-1 journey.

Resources: the Gottman Institute has excellent couples communication tools. Psychology Today's therapist finder lets you search for couples therapy specifically. Many therapists now do virtual sessions, making access easier.

Take care of your relationships as carefully as you take care of your health. They're connected.
