Body dysmorphia after significant weight loss — when the mirror lies

Saw this come across my feed today and thought the community would want to discuss.

Body dysmorphia after significant weight loss is something that affects a lot of us here, and the latest information is worth paying attention to. I'll share what I know and hopefully others can fill in the gaps.

Key points as I understand them:

  • This has been evolving over the past few months
  • There are different perspectives on how to approach it
  • The practical implications depend on your specific situation

What are you all hearing from your providers about this? Anyone have direct experience to share?

SaraMom3's experience with Body dysmorphia after resonates deeply with mine. I went through almost the identical process — starting dose, titration timeline, side effects, everything.

The main difference: I am on a different medication. But the overall trajectory has been remarkably similar. Down 35 lbs in 10 months.

One thing I would add that SaraMom3 did not mention: my sleep quality improved dramatically.

Thanks for sharing this, SaraMom3. A few questions about your Body dysmorphia experience:

  1. What dose are you currently on?
  2. How long before you noticed significant changes?
  3. Did your doctor have any specific recommendations about Body dysmorphia?

I am in a similar boat and trying to learn from others' experiences before my next appointment.

To answer matt_MKE: I started tracking everything in a spreadsheet from day 1.
