I've been lurking on this forum since before I started Mounjaro and you all were a HUGE part of my decision to talk to my doctor. I promised myself I'd do a full write-up when I hit a milestone, and losing 89 lbs feels like a pretty big one.

The numbers:

Jan 2025 (Start)March 2026 (Now)
Weight271 lbs182 lbs
BMI43.829.4
Dress size2212
A1C6.4% (prediabetic)5.0%
Blood pressure148/94118/72
Resting heart rate88 bpm64 bpm
Total cholesterol234171

My titration timeline:

  • 2.5mg — 4 weeks (lost 6 lbs)
  • 5mg — 8 weeks (lost 14 lbs)
  • 7.5mg — 8 weeks (lost 16 lbs)
  • 10mg — 12 weeks (lost 22 lbs)
  • 12.5mg — 12 weeks (lost 19 lbs)
  • 15mg — 16 weeks and counting (lost 12 lbs so far, rate is slowing as I approach goal)

Side effects I experienced: Nausea (weeks 1-6, manageable), constipation (ongoing, managed with fiber + magnesium), sulfur burps (weeks 3-10 then resolved), fatigue on injection day (first 3 months then resolved), hair thinning (months 6-10, now stopped and regrowing).

What I did beyond the drug: Walking 30+ min daily, started light resistance training at month 4, increased protein to 100-120g/day, therapy for binge eating disorder (this was HUGE).

I'm not at my goal yet (165) but I can see it from here. For the first time in my adult life, I feel like a normal-weight future is actually realistic and not a fantasy.

If you're on the fence — talk to your doctor. This drug gave me my life back.

tine, this is absolutely incredible. 89 lbs in 14 months while addressing the BED with therapy — you're doing this the RIGHT way. The combination of pharmacotherapy + behavioral work is what the research supports as most effective for long-term success.

The blood pressure normalization alone probably added years to your life. Going from Stage 2 hypertension to normal range is massive. Your heart is thanking you. ❤️

— I was you 14 months ago. Terrified, skeptical, and honestly ashamed that I "needed a drug" to lose weight. That shame is a LIE that diet culture tells us. Obesity is a chronic disease with a neurobiological basis, and treating it with effective medication is no different than treating diabetes with insulin or hypertension with lisinopril.

You've got this. And this forum will be here for you through every step. 💪

Can you talk more about the hair thinning? This is my biggest fear. How bad was it and what did you do about it?
