My wife thinks I am crazy for doing this lol — need advice

Wanted to share some data with the community since I know we're all about evidence here.

Background: I have been tracking everything meticulously since starting sema 12 months ago. Here's what I have found regarding my wife thinks i am crazy.

I'll post my numbers below and would love to see others share theirs too. The more data points we have, the better we can all make informed decisions.

Fair warning — this is a long post. TL;DR at the bottom for those who do not want the full breakdown.

To answer the question about My wife thinks I am crazy for doing this lol need advice — in my experience this comes down to a few key factors.

I have been dealing with this for over a year now, and what I have found is that individual responses really do vary. That said, the general consensus on My wife thinks I am crazy for seems solid.

What specifically worked for me: getting baseline labs before making any changes. I would suggest LipidDoc_ATL try the same approach and reporting back.

Completely agree with Dr.RenalNash. I would add that My wife thinks I am crazy for also has implications for long-term metabolic health that sometimes get overlooked in these discussions.

In my case, following a similar approach led to significant improvements compared to what I was doing before.

As a pharmacist, I want to add some clinical context to this discussion on My wife thinks I am crazy for doing this.

Building on what LipidDoc_ATL said — the evidence base here is robust. The key publications to reference are from the STEP program[1].

Key clinical points:

  1. Efficacy is dose-dependent and typically requires 4-5 weeks to reach steady state
  2. Side effect profile is predictable and usually manageable with standard protocols
  3. Monitoring should include baseline labs and follow-up at 3-month intervals
  4. Patient education significantly improves outcomes and adherence

Standard disclaimer: this is educational, not individualized medical advice.
