To answer newstart_MO's question specifically:

From a clinical standpoint, Muscle protein synthesis rates is an area where we have good evidence.

The short answer: baseline labs + quarterly monitoring is the standard of care.

The longer answer involves understanding the mechanism of action at the receptor level, which I am happy to elaborate on if helpful.

roxy_nash — that is really helpful context on Muscle protein synthesis. Follow-up question: how long did you wait before increasing your dose?

I am in a similar situation (week 4) and trying to set realistic expectations.

OP here — wow, did not expect this much response! Thank you all for the thoughtful replies on Muscle protein synthesis.

To answer pete_nash: I started tracking everything in a spreadsheet from day 1.

Quick update: I will post a proper update thread soon. Thanks again for the evidence-based discussion — this is exactly why I posted in a science-based community. 🙏

roxy_nash — that is really helpful context on Muscle protein synthesis. Follow-up question: what labs did your doctor order to monitor this?

I am in a similar situation (just started) and trying to set realistic expectations.

Reading this thread on Muscle protein synthesis hits close to home. Dad of 2 checking in — I started at 293 lbs and felt like I would tried everything.

9 months on tirz and I am a different person. Not just the 68 lbs lost — my energy, my mood, my relationship with food. All transformed.

If you are on the fence about Muscle protein — take the leap. It was the best health decision I have ever made. ❤️
