Hey everyone. I have been on tirzepatide for about 6 months now and wanted to get the community's take on something.

Vitamin B12 monitoring — what worked for you?

I have been reading through old threads but have not found exactly what I'm looking for. My situation: I have been wondering about vitamin b12 monitoring what worked for and I am not sure what to make of it.

Has anyone else dealt with this? What was your experience? My PCP was not super helpful — just said to "monitor it" which is not exactly actionable advice lol.

Any input appreciated. Thanks in advance. 🙏

bri_stats's experience with Vitamin B12 monitoring resonates deeply with mine. I went through almost the identical process — starting dose, titration timeline, side effects, everything.

The main difference: I started 3 months later. But the overall trajectory has been remarkably similar. Down 66 lbs in 11 months.

One thing I would add that bri_stats did not mention: the mental health improvements were just as significant.

Thanks for sharing this, bri_stats. A few questions about your Vitamin B12 experience:

  1. What dose are you currently on?
  2. How long before you noticed significant changes?
  3. Did your doctor have any specific recommendations about Vitamin B12?

I am in a similar boat and trying to learn from others' experiences before my next appointment.

OP here — wow, did not expect this much response! Thank you all for the thoughtful replies on Vitamin B12 monitoring .

To answer steph_laguna: I get my labs done through Quest every 3 months.

Quick update: my latest labs came back even better. Thanks again for the evidence-based discussion — this is exactly why I posted in a science-based community. 🙏

Relevant to Vitamin B12 monitoring what — here is my latest bloodwork comparison:

Key improvements: A1C 7.2% → 5.3%, triglycerides 219 → 119 mg/dL, hsCRP 6.0 → 1.3 mg/L. All on tirzepatide for 11 months.

The inflammatory marker drop is what impresses me most. Consistent with the SELECT trial's cardiovascular findings.
