I've been running a very similar program to Danielle's for 9 months now on Mounjaro 12.5mg. Here's my tracked data for anyone who likes numbers:

Starting (Month 0): BW 118kg, Goblet Squat 12kg x8, Bench 30kg x8, Row 25kg x8

Current (Month 9): BW 89kg, Goblet Squat 36kg x10, Bench 70kg x8, Row 55kg x10

DEXA Results:

  • Month 0: 38.2% body fat, 73.1kg lean mass
  • Month 4: 31.5% body fat, 70.8kg lean mass (-2.3kg lean)
  • Month 9: 24.1% body fat, 67.6kg lean mass (-5.5kg lean total BUT rate of loss slowed dramatically)

So yes, I did lose lean mass. But 5.5kg lean out of 29kg total loss means roughly 81% of my weight loss was fat. The general GLP-1 trial data shows ~60-65% fat loss without exercise. Lifting absolutely helped preserve muscle.

The other thing nobody talks about — my strength went UP significantly despite losing weight. Relative strength through the roof. I can do actual push-ups now. Plural. 😂

those numbers are really motivating, thanks for sharing. And the push-ups thing made me laugh because SAME — I did my first real push-up last week at age 38 and almost cried lol

I'm gonna start your program this week. Mon/Wed/Thu schedule. I'll track everything in Strong as suggested above. Thank you for taking the time to write all this out 🙏

You've got this! One last tip — take progress photos and measurements alongside the scale. When you're lifting and losing fat simultaneously, the scale can be misleading. You might have weeks where the scale barely moves but you've lost an inch off your waist because you're recomping.

Beautiful data. 81% fat loss ratio is excellent — well above the trial averages. This is exactly what I try to communicate to skeptical clients. The lifting WORKS.

Great addition on mobility. I should have included warmup recommendations in my original post. Saving your list!
