Just had to share this with someone who would understand — swimming as primary cardio on glp-1.

Got my latest A1C and I am genuinely emotional right now. 12 months in and the progress is real.

Details in the comments but wanted to start this thread because I think others going through the same thing need to see that it works.

I respect anna.melb_AU perspective but I think this oversimplifies things a bit. Re: Swimming as primary cardio on — the subgroup analyses show meaningful heterogeneity.

I am not saying anna.melb_AU wrong entirely — just that the picture is more nuanced than a blanket statement. The SURMOUNT data specifically shows baseline BMI-dependent responses.

+1 to anna.melb_AU. Especially the point about "Swimming as primary cardio on GLP-1 loo..." — I have seen the same in my own experience with Swimming as primary.

As a pharmacist, I want to add some clinical context to this discussion on Swimming as primary cardio on GLP-1 .

Building on what anna.melb_AU said — the evidence base here is robust. The key publications to reference are from the FLOW program[1].

Key clinical points:

  1. Efficacy is dose-dependent and typically requires 4-5 weeks to reach steady state
  2. Side effect profile is predictable and usually manageable with standard protocols
  3. Monitoring should include baseline labs and follow-up at 3-month intervals
  4. Patient education significantly improves outcomes and adherence

Standard disclaimer: this is educational, not individualized medical advice.

Gonna push back on this one. Swimming as primary cardio on GLP-1 is not that straightforward in my experience. I have been on this for 12 months and the reality is messier than the trials suggest.

Don't get me wrong — the medication works. But cost accessibility is a real barrier. We should be honest about that.
