🎉 MILESTONE: From wheelchair-bound to hiking again 89!

I can not believe I am typing this. A year ago I was in a very different place.

Numbers: A1C was 7.5, now 5.0.

Thank you to this community for keeping me sane through the hard parts. You know who you are. 🙏

To answer the question about From wheelchair-bound to hiking again 89 lbs lost photo documentation — in my experience this comes down to a few key factors.

I have been dealing with this for several months now, and what I have found is that individual responses really do vary. That said, the general consensus on From wheelchair-bound to seems solid.

What specifically worked for me: tracking everything in a spreadsheet. I would suggest rachel_ABQ try the same approach and reporting back.

Completely agree with BariatricNurseD. I would add that From wheelchair-bound to also has implications for body composition that sometimes get overlooked in these discussions.

In my case, following a similar approach led to fewer side effects compared to what I was doing before.

As a healthcare provider, I want to add some clinical context to this discussion on From wheelchair-bound to hiking again .

Building on what rachel_ABQ said — the evidence base here is well-established. The key publications to reference are from the STEP program[1].

Key clinical points:

  1. Efficacy is dose-dependent and typically requires 4-5 weeks to reach steady state
  2. Side effect profile is predictable and usually manageable with standard protocols
  3. Monitoring should include baseline labs and follow-up at 3-month intervals
  4. Patient education significantly improves outcomes and adherence

Standard disclaimer: this is educational, not individualized medical advice.

Amazing transformation! Starting at 287 lbs, I'm now at 162 lbs after 18 months on semaglutide 2.4mg/wk. These photos show my progress at months 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18. The body recomposition has been incredible — DEXA shows 23% body fat, down from 42%...
