Hi all, brand new here. My NP just prescribed semaglutide and I have a question about when to stop glp-1 need advice.

Sorry if this has been asked before — I did try searching but the amount of information here is overwhelming (in a good way). I am on day 3 and everything is new to me.

Any guidance appreciated. You all seem really knowledgeable and I am glad I found this community.

Gonna push back on this one. When to stop GLP-1 need advice is not that straightforward in my experience. I have been on this for 12 months and the reality is messier than the trials suggest.

Don't get me wrong — the medication works. But cost accessibility is a real barrier. We should be honest about that.

This is exactly right. pam_stl articulated what I have been trying to explain to my doctor for months. The When to stop GLP-1 need aspect is the most important factor.

Clinical perspective on When to stop GLP-1 need advice:

I have managed ~150 patients on GLP-1 therapy and this topic comes up frequently. What the data shows — and what I see in practice — is that proper titration prevents most adverse events.

For this specific question, I would recommend: reviewing the relevant clinical guidelines.

I respect AttorneyGrant perspective but I think this oversimplifies things a bit. Re: When to stop GLP-1 need — the effect size varies considerably by population.

I am not saying AttorneyGrant wrong entirely — just that the picture is more nuanced than a blanket statement. The SURMOUNT data specifically shows baseline BMI-dependent responses.
