Do the heart benefits go away if I stop taking it? — anyone have experience?

Wanted to share some data with the community since I know we're all about evidence here.

Background: I have been tracking everything meticulously since starting my GLP-1 12 months ago. Here's what I have found regarding do the heart benefits go away.

I'll post my numbers below and would love to see others share theirs too. The more data points we have, the better we can all make informed decisions.

Fair warning — this is a long post. TL;DR at the bottom for those who do not want the full breakdown.

LibrarianMeg's experience with Do the heart benefits go resonates deeply with mine. I went through almost the identical process — starting dose, titration timeline, side effects, everything.

The main difference: I started 3 months later. But the overall trajectory has been remarkably similar. Down 42 lbs in 7 months.

One thing I would add that LibrarianMeg did not mention: the mental health improvements were just as significant.

Thanks for sharing this, LibrarianMeg. A few questions about your Do the heart experience:

  1. What dose are you currently on?
  2. How long before you noticed significant changes?
  3. Did your doctor have any specific recommendations about Do the heart?

I am in a similar boat and trying to learn from others' experiences before my next appointment.

To answer sarah_TO: I get my labs done through Quest every 3 months.

Quick update: my latest labs came back even better. Thanks again for the evidence-based discussion — this is exactly why I posted in a science-based community. 🙏

Relevant to Do the heart benefits go away — here is my latest bloodwork comparison:

Key improvements: A1C 7.2% → 5.3%, triglycerides 195 → 95 mg/dL, hsCRP 6.0 → 1.3 mg/L. All on tirzepatide for 11 months.

The inflammatory marker drop is what impresses me most. Consistent with the SELECT trial's cardiovascular findings.
